INDIANAPOLIS – Michel Imariagbe notched his first double-double as a Raider and was one of three Wright State men's basketball players in double figures on Saturday as the Raiders closed the regular season with a 91-84 loss at IU Indianapolis.
Wright State (14-17, 8-12 HL) is locked into the No. 8 seed for the 2024 Horizon League Championship and will have a rematch with IU Indy (10-21, 6-14 HL), who was locked into the No. 9 seed ahead of the Saturday regular season finale.
The Raiders will host IU Indy on Tuesday night in an 8 p.m. tipoff inside the Nutter Center. The complete Horizon League bracket will be released at the conclusion of Saturday's contests.
On Saturday, Imariagbe was an efficient 8-of-10 from the floor, adding a pair of free throws on the way to his season-high 18 points. He grabbed seven of his 11 rebounds on the defensive glass while also passing out three assists and collecting two steals and a pair of blocks in 27 minutes of action.
Brandon Noel was just as efficient from the floor, finishing 10-of-15 on the way to his team-best 23 points, adding four rebounds and two assists, while
Alex Huibregtse had 19 points on five three-pointers and added five assists.
Wright State used a 12-2 run midway through the first half to take a 44-37 lead into the locker room, while IU Indy opened the second 20 minutes with six of the first eight points to pull the game to within three points. The Raiders held off the IU Indy push momentarily extending the lead back to as many as nine before the hosts tied the game on a free throw with 9:08 to play before a steal and three-pointer seconds later gave IU Indy a lead it would not relinquish.
The Raiders saw seven other players find the scoring column behind the three double-digit efforts, as all 10 players that saw action for Wright State scored, with eight Raiders grabbing rebounds and eight Raiders passing out an assist.
Logan Woods finished with eight points as
Keaton Norris added six points and passed out seven assists.
Wright State finished the afternoon shooting 53 percent overall (34-of-64) and was 12-of-31 (39 percent) from three-point range, while IU Indy shot 49 percent (34-of-69) and made nine three-pointers (9-of-24, 38 percent). The difference came at the free throw line, where the Raiders were just 4-of-6 and IU Indy went to the line 16 times (14-of-16, 88 percent).
Paul Zilinskas led IU Indy with 31 points in the win, with Jarvis Walker adding 25 points as Sean Craig had 17 as the three players in double figures.
