Golf in contention after strong Friday in Georgia

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA – The Wright State golf team continued action at the Peoples Golf Championship at Sea Palms Resort on Friday, moving up into a tie for fifth as a group while Andrew Flynn continues to lead the way individually at seven shots off the lead.

Wright State will play in the afternoon for Sunday's final round action, teeing off from the first hole between 12:30-1:10 p.m., paired with Mount St. Mary's and Francis Marion.

As a group, Wright State is even for the tournament after a team 286 round on Friday, pitting them in a tie for fifth with Mount St. Mary's and two shots back of fourth-place Drexel. UNC Greensboro is running away towards the team title at 21-under with 18 holes to play, while Villanova is in second at six-under and Richmond is three-under in third as a team. UNC Greensboro teammates Kelvin Hernandez and Jake Lewis are tied for first individually at nine-under.

Flynn scattered five birdies throughout his scorecard on Friday on the way to a two-over 73 and will enter the final round tied for 14th at two-under. A trio of Raiders are bunched a couple shots behind Flynn at two-over in a tie for 35th, with Shane Ochs, Timmy Hollenbeck and Adam Horn all together. Ochs and Hollenbeck each carded two-over rounds of 73, while Horn notched an even par round of 71.

Brock Rumpke rounds out the Raider lineup a shot back of that trio, currently at three-over in a tie for 43rd entering the final round after tallying four birdies on Saturday on the way to a two-under round of 69.

The Raiders also have a pair of players competing as individuals away from the team scoring, with Ali Berker tied for 70th at six-over for the tournament following a five-over 76 on Saturday, while Ian Asch (t101st) carded a one-over 72 in his second round and enters Sunday at 11-over.
