
Golf with ground to make up after opening day in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wright State golf team will have work to do after Monday's 36 holes of action at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, with the Raiders 11th as a group entering the final round as Shane Ochs paces them individually in a tie for 25th.

Tuesday's final round action at Cape Fear Country Club will get underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts.

As a group, the Raiders carded rounds of 300 and 291 on Monday to sit at 23-over, bouncing back with a seven-over team second round. Tournament host UNC Wilmington is six-under to lead the way, one of just two teams under par after 36 holes, while Florida Atlantic's Nashawn Tyson is 13-under and leading on the individual leaderboard.

Ochs is three-over in his tie for 25th, beginning his day with a one-over first round 72 that featured three birdies and a pair of bogeys before a second round two-over 73 with three birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. Andrew Flynn and Adam Horn are both tied for 49th at seven over, with Flynn carding a seven-over 78 to open action before rebounding with an even par round of 71 in the afternoon. Horn started with a three-over round of 74 and followed that up with a four-over 75.

Brock Rumpke is one shot back of Flynn and Horn at eight-over in a tie for 54th, beginning tournament action with a five-over 76 and following that with a three-over afternoon round of 74. Ali Berker is nine-over (t61st), carding a seven-over 78 in his first round before responding with a two-over 73 in his afternoon round.
