Golf battles through blustery final round in Florida

DAYTONA BEACH – The Wright State golf team battled through windy conditions in Tuesday's final round at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate, finishing 14th as a group.

On a day when wind gusts neared 30 miles per hour, scores soared for every team but champion Troy, which finished 18 strokes ahead of runner-up and host Stetson.

Wright State was paced by Shane Ochs' 18-over finish in 52nd after he carded a final round seven-over 79, while both Adam Horn (60th, +20) and Andrew Flynn (71st, +26) notched nine-over rounds of 81 on Tuesday. Timmy Hollenbeck finished 76th with his final round 14-over 86, followed by Kye Fisher (79th) at 30-over after his 10-over 82 on Tuesday. Playing as an individual, Brock Rumpke (84, +33) wrapped up action with a final round 12-over 84.

The Raiders are back in action next weekend at the Peoples Golf Championship, presented by Sea Palms Resort, with three rounds over three days in Georgia.
