DAYTON – The Wright State baseball team defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 9-7 on Saturday afternoon to secure the series win.

Now holding a 12-2 record in the Horizon League, the Raiders will go for the series sweep on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's 1 p.m. first pitch will feature a mini baseball bat giveaway and a postgame autograph session. Fans can catch the action in person with free admission, or follow along virtually via live stats and the ESPN+ livestream.

Purdue Fort Wayne struck first with an RBI single in the opening inning, but WSU was quick to take a 5-1 lead by the third. The four-run rally began in the second as Will Cook took a bases-loaded hit by pitch, driving Braylen Blomquist to score. Cam Gilkerson scored on a passed ball as Cook and Luke Arnold advanced. With both in scoring position, Hunter Warren singled to right, driving in both runners to make it 4-1. Manley made it 5-1 in the third with a sacrifice fly, driving in Blomquist, who had reached on a triple to right-center.

The Mastodons pulled within two in the fourth, scoring two runs on a single, but the Raiders responded swiftly in the bottom of the inning as Boston Smith launched a three-run homer 428 feet over the right-field wall.

WSU tacked on another run in the seventh as Gus Gregory scored on a triple by JP Peltier. PFW fought in the final two innings, cutting the Raiders' lead to two. The 'Dons added one in the eighth, scoring during a double play, and capped scoring on the day with a three-run homer in the ninth.

Sophomore right-hander Cam Allen earned the win, pitching a career-long 6.0 innings. Garrett Peters earned his fourth save of the season, tossing a scoreless ninth to close it out.
