ROCHESTER, Michigan – The Wright State baseball team secured a series sweep at Oakland with a 5-0 shutout on Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders held a 1-0 lead through the first four innings, scoring in the first as
Patrick Fultz singled to left center to drive in
Gus Gregory. Wright State added another run in the fifth, as
Will Cook,
Hunter Warren, and
Boston Smith each singled to load the bases. Gregory followed with a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Cook to score.
WSU continued in the sixth, scoring first on a Cook groundout and then on a Warren sacrifice fly.
Cam Gilkerson added the final run of the day in the eighth, homering down the right-field line.
Cam Allen earned his fourth win of the season, tossing 6.0 shutout innings and striking out eight batters.
Wright State is now 24-14 overall and 16-2 in the Horizon League. The Raiders return to Nischwitz Stadium to host Xavier on Tuesday, April 23, in the teams' third midweek matchup of the season. WSU will stay in the Nisch to take on Milwaukee in a three-game series starting Friday, April 25.
