
Raiders set for NCAA Regional in Illinois

URBANA, IL – The Wright State golf team is headed to the NCAA Championship for the eighth time in program history over the coming days as the Raiders take part in the NCAA Urbana Regional in Illinois, where they will play at Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois from Monday through Wednesday.

Regional action gets underway at 9 a.m. ET on Monday morning, with Wright State teeing off among the final groupings from 10:50-11:34 a.m. off the first tee. The Raiders are paired with the various individual qualifiers in the first round. Following Monday's first round, the tournament field will play the second round on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday with tee times to be announced at the conclusion of each round. Wright State will play a practice round on Sunday in preparation for the three competition rounds.

The grouping of Andrew Flynn, Timmy Hollenbeck, Adam Horn, Shane Ochs and Brock Rumpke will tee off for Wright State in the Regional, with Ali Berker as the alternate.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 12-14. Each regional will feature 13 or 14 teams and five or 10 individual qualifiers. The top five squads and the low individual not on an advancing team, will move on to compete at the NCAA Championship May 23-28.

THE COURSE
Atkins Golf Club will play as a par-71 course at 7,533 yards for the NCAA Regional. Opened in 1999, Atkins Golf Club is located less than three miles from the Illinois campus and has been owned by the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics since a gift from the Atkins family in 2020. Since reopening the course after renovations in 2022, Illinois has hosted the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate at the venue in both 2023 and 2024.

Wright State captured its ninth Horizon League Championship in Florida last month, the second-most all-time in the Horizon, while Wright State has now won four team championships in the last six seasons with a pair of second-place finishes in the two other years. The Raiders have six top-five finishes in 11 total tournaments this season spanning the fall and spring schedule, highlighted by three-straight team titles in April – at The Jewell, Wright State Invitational and Horizon League Championship.
