DAYTON – Coming off a Horizon League Championship win, the Wright State baseball team is headed to the Nashville Regional as the No. 4 seed from May 30-June 2. The Raiders learned their postseason destination Monday afternoon during ESPN's live Selection Show.
Wright State will face No. 1 overall seed Vanderbilt in game two of the regional on Friday, May 30 at 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network. Also in the four-team bracket are No. 2 seed Louisville and No. 3 seed East Tennessee State.
The Raiders secured their 12th NCAA Division I Tournament appearance after winning three consecutive elimination games in the Horizon League Baseball Championship, capping the run with a 2-0 shutout over No. 3 Milwaukee in the title game at Nischwitz Stadium.
Wright State enters the NCAA Championship with a 38-19 overall record, including a 26-5 mark in league play. The Raiders won every Horizon League series, sweeping Oakland and Youngstown State twice and Purdue Fort Wayne once.
WSU has previous experience against two of the teams in the Nashville Regional. The Raiders most recently faced Vanderbilt in the 2021 season opener, falling 14-1 and 1-0. Wright State leads the all-time series against Louisville 9-8, and last defeated the Cardinals 10-3 in 2020.
