DAYTON- The Wright State men's soccer team dropped their home opener at Alumni field against Bowling Green Thursday night.
Wright State (0-2) will hit the road for a Sunday afternoon contest against Lindenwood, with first touch set for 4 p.m.
Bowling Green (1-1-1) opened the scoring the 22
nd minute Trace Terry fired in a right-footed shot from outside that box that banged off the far post and into the back of the net. Terry would double the lead for the Falcons shortly after half time when he sent a hard shot at goal that rebounded back to his feet where he composed himself and slotted the ball home.
The visitors would add one more insurance goal in the 61
st minute to extend their lead out to 3-0.
In the box score the Raiders led in shots (12-11) and corner kick opportunities (7-3) but trailed in shots on goal (6-8). It was a physical contest with each side committing eight fouls and combining for five yellow cards.
Henry Hutchinson led WSU in shots with five, while
Edwin Espinal-Elvir and
Roman Kedgley each fired a pair of shots on target.
Alessandro Malterer played all 90 minutes in net recording four saves.
