DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team made quick work in a three-set sweep over Ohio on Sunday afternoon as the Raiders wrapped up the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational.
Wright State (5-3) hit .330 as a group Sunday on the way to finishing the weekend 2-1, with wins over Ohio and Ohio State after a battle with No. 7 Pitt. The Raiders now will make a short trip across town for action next weekend at the Dayton Flyer Invitational to wrap up non-conference action, with the first of three matches next Friday afternoon.
On Sunday, the Raiders hit over .300 in all three sets with only seven errors in the match, while Ohio (2-7) finished with a .000 team hitting percentage with 27 kills and 27 errors in the match.
Mya Ayro finished with a match-best 14 kills as 10 different Raiders recorded kills, with
Taygan Corstange's 16 digs pacing 12 Raiders with at least one dig.
Lauren Yacobucci passed out 25 of Wright State's 35 assists, with
Fiona Cooper notching seven helpers as
Reilly Zegunis and Ayro each finished with three blocks and 16 different Raiders saw action overall in the win.
For the weekend, the Raiders hit .222 as a group with a 13.17 kills per set average, led by Ayro's 56 kills (4.67 kills/set) and 36 kills from
Katie Sowko (3.00 kills/set) as Yacobucci passed out a 10.25 assists per set average over the 12 sets and defensively the Raiders averaged 15.42 digs per set and 2.42 blocks per set as a group.
