DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team capped the weekend with a Saturday night sweep over tournament host Dayton to wrap up action at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, led by
Mya Ayro's match-high 19 kills.
Wright State (6-5) finished the sweep hitting .224 as a group for the night, aided by a first set .318 hitting percentage as the Raiders took the opening set 25-23 and pulled out set two 26-24 before closing the win with a 25-22 third set over Dayton (5-6), who hit .198 as a group.
The sweep put a bow on the Raiders' non-conference slate, with Wright State set to host IU Indy next Friday and Saturday inside McLin Gymnasium to open Horizon League action.
Saturday night, Ayro had just six attacking errors as she hit .371 on the way to her 19 kills, while
Katie Sowko just missed out on a double-double with nine kills and 16 digs.
Taylor Bransfield and
Ella Seeger each notched five kills, with three of Seeger's coming late in the second set to seal that set win.
Lauren Yacobucci turned in another double-double, passing out 32 of the Raiders' 43 assists while adding 10 digs, with
Taygan Corstange picking up 16 digs of her own, along with nine digs from
Ella Gaona.
Kamryn Hunt led Dayton with 18 kills and Panna Ratkai had 11 kills, with a double-double from Viktoria Wahlgren with 12 assists and 12 digs for the hosts.
