DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team dropped its opening match of the day on Saturday morning, falling in three sets to UC Santa Barbara as part of the Dayton Flyer Invitational. The Raiders are back in action later Saturday night against host Dayton. Saturday night's match is set for a 7 p.m. start and is expected to be broadcast on ESPN+.

Saturday morning, Wright State (5-5) played a tight opening set, 25-21, before UC Santa Barbara (8-4) pulled away in the second set, 25-19, and took the third set 25-18. The Raiders finished the match hitting just .114 while UCSB connected at a .274 mark.
 
Katie Sowko led the Raiders with 11 kills and five digs, while Mya Ayro added eight kills of her own and Reilly Zegunis notched seven kills and four digs to go along with a pair of service aces. Taylor Bransfield turned in a trio of bocks to go along with six kills. Lauren Yacobucci passed out 26 of the Raiders' 36 assists while 11 Raiders collected at least one dig, paced by Ella Gaona's six.
 
Kiersten Schmitt led UC Santa Barbara with 10 kills and Eva Travis added eight kills in the win.
