Track & Field notches 33 Top 10 finishes on Friday

Louisville, KY/Cedarville, OH - The Wright State indoor track & field teams turned in 33 Top 10 finishes in a pair of meets on Friday, with the majority of the roster at the Bellarmine Classic and select individuals at the Cedarville Collegiate Invite.

Of those Top 10 finishes, 16 were inside the top five, with three Raiders coming home as first-place winners in a trio of field events.

In Louisville, Oliver Murray cleared 4.40m on his final attempt to capture the top spot in the men's pole vault, while Aboubacar Soumahoro notched a 13.24m mark to win the men's triple jump. The Raiders went 1-2-3 in the men's high jump, with Thomas Cook bringing home the win with his 2.11m mark, followed by Soumahoro and Landon Monnin, both at 1.90m, with Soumahoro clearing on his first attempt and Monnin on his second attempt.

In other field action, the Wright State women took home the second-, third- and seventh-place spots in the women's high jump, as Olivia Aills cleared 1.55m for second, followed by Taryn Stills at 1.50m and Izabella Bell in seventh at 1.45m. Former Wright State standout Cierra Lively, competing unattached, won the event with a 1.70m mark. Meredith Goecke, competing unattached, was second in the women's pole vault with her 3.71m clearance, followed by teammates Heidi Stammen (fourth, 3.26m), Alaina Freeze (fifth, 3.26m) and Ava Stalter (seventh, 3.11m), while Molly Spiker was fifth in the women's triple jump after tallying a 9.59m mark.

On the track, the Raiders had three inside the Top 10 in the women's 60m hurdles, led by Ava Hulett in third with her 9.53 second time, followed by teammates Katlyn Delgado-Heaberlin (eighth, 9.93) and Abbey Puckett (10, 10.74), while Jude Elkins was fifth in the men's 60m hurdles with his time of 8.63 seconds. Hunter Thompson added a fifth-place finish of his own in the men's 200m at 22.65 seconds, while Gavin Hutchinson was sixth in the men's 800m with his time of 1:54.69.

Wright State had a pair of teams in the men's and women's 4x400 races, with Owen Kirkham, Patrick Statzer, Nicholas Hoelscher and Hutchinson finishing fifth with a 3:29.25 time in the men's race, followed by the teammate grouping of Aiden Clendenin, Evan McPherson, Matthew Lee and Wyatt Medure at 3:31.75 in sixth. In the women's race, the Raider group of Mia Wyngarden, Alexa Magoteaux, Elle Lambert and Alexa West finished sixth with a 4:17.50 mark, followed by teammates Brooke Wilson, Samantha Seas, Kayla Compton and Madilyn Brausch in seventh at 4:36.69.

The Raiders had four individuals compete at the Cedarville Collegiate Invite, with all four finishing inside the top 10 in their events. Mitchell Rynolds was second in the men's 3,000m run with his 8:56.52 mark, with teammate Santino Diligente fifth at 9:14.34, while Eric Dando (4:29.61) was sixth in the men's mile and Elliot Brady (2:06.30) was seventh in the men's 800m race.

Wright State is back in action next Saturday, January 31 as a complete squad at the Steemer Showcase in Springfield.
