Cooko's high jump title leads 20 Top 15 finishes Friday

ALLENDALE, MI/YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Wright State track and field program split for action at a pair of meets on Friday, with the Raiders combining for 20 Top 15 finishes at the GVSU Big Meet and at the YSU Last Chance Invitational.

The Raiders will have a contingent in action on Saturday at the second day of action at the GVSU Big Meet as well – a meet that features more than 3,000 athletes in 3,500 entries over the two days of action.

In Michigan, a small Wright State distance group tallied five finishes inside the Top 15, all coming in the 5,000m run across five separate runnings. Blake Rodgers tallied with the top finish at fourth with a 14:47.99 time, with Emmitt Slabach was ninth at 14:58.52 and Andrew Bugner 15th in that race at 15:06.70. In a pair of other groupings, Michael Gale was sixth with his 14:57.96 mark in his race while Mitchell Reynolds had a 15:23.26 time for an 11th-place finish.

The Raiders had a productive day in Youngstown as well, led by Thomas Cook's first-place finish in the high jump as he cleared 2.00m. A trio of teammates also finished in the top eight, with Nathan Bright second after clearing 1.95m, with Greyson Pollock clearing 1.85m for sixth and Landon Monnin finishing eighth with his 1.85m clearance. Aboubacar Soumahoro tallied a 12.95m mark to finish eighth in the men's triple jump, while Oliver Murray cleared 4.67m to grab ninth in the men's pole vault.

For the Raider men on the track, the 4x400m group of Logan Eggert, Matthew Lee, Owen Kirkham and Wyatt Medure turned in a 3:31.65 time for 14th and Reece Page finished 15th in the 5,000m run with a 15:42.32 time.

Hannah Falknor clocked a 7.66 second time to finish fourth in the women's 60m dash to lead the Wright State women on Friday, as she added a 26.01 time to finish 14th in the 200m race. Teammates Ava Stalter and Heidi Stammen each cleared 3.20m to tie for eighth in the pole vault, while Olivia Aills was 14th in the high jump with a 1.51m clearance. On the track, Wright State had two groups in the 4x400, with the squad of Shelby Hept, Kaitlin Thomas, Reece Barnitz and Sydney Thompson finishing 14th with a 4:28.64 time and a 4:34.18 time from Kaitlyn Miller, Samantha Seas, Kayla Compton and Brooke Wilson gave that group 15th.
