Raiders clinch outright HL title with Wednesday road win

FORT WAYNE – The Wright State men's basketball team went on the road Wednesday night and saw Solomon Callaghan and Logan Woods each turn in double-digit scoring performances as the Raiders grabbed a 74-70 win over Purdue Fort Wayne to clinch the Horizon League regular season championship outright for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Wright State (19-11,14-5 Horizon) becomes the No. 1 seed in the 2026 Horizon League Championship, which will begin for the Raiders next Wednesday, March 4 against the winner between the Nos. 10 and 11 seeds from Monday's play-in tournament game. Tickets are already on sale for next week's home game at the Nutter Center.
The Raiders close out the regular season on Saturday night with a 7 p.m. tipoff at Northern Kentucky. Fans can follow the all of Wednesday's action several ways – on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the radio feed.
On Wednesday, the Raiders led 31-26 at the half after closing the opening 20 minutes with 15 of the final 17 points, and never let up in the second half, never surrendering the lead as they sealed the win with five made free throws over the closing 38 seconds.
Callaghan finished with 24 points thanks to six three-pointers while going a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line down the stretch, while Woods had 16 points of his own as the pair paced eight Raiders in the scoring column. Andrea Holden, Michael Imariagbe and Dominic Pangonis all added seven points, with Holden and Imariagbe combining for 11 rebounds as each finished with three blocks.
Corey Hadnot II had a game-best 26 points to lead three Purdue Fort Wayne players with double figure scoring efforts in the loss.
