Women’s Basketball heads to Robert Morris for regular season finale

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (10-20, 6-13 HL) will hit the road for its final regular-season game at Robert Morris on Saturday, February 28. Tip-off in Moon Township is set for 4 p.m.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris enters the final game of the regular season at 17-11 on the season and 10-9. The Colonials enter Saturday as the sixth seed in the Horizon League Championship, with a chance to clinch the fifth seed with a win and a Purdue Fort Wayne loss.
Senior Aislin Malcolm leads the colonials in scoring with 12.0 points per game. Joining Malcolm in double figures is Myriam Traore with 11.5 points per game. Traore leads the team and is fourth in the Horizon League with 1.0 blocks per game. The sophomore is also third on the team in rebounding, hauling in 5.0 rebounds per game. Forward Eva Levingston leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game while also averaging 9.4 points.
HISTORY VS. ROBERT MORRIS
Saturday's contest will mark the 17th all-time meeting between Wright State and Robert Morris, a series in which the Raiders trail 6-10. The Colonials swept the series a season ago, winning on their home court in January and at the Nutter Center in early March. Through the last 10 games, the Raiders are 3-8 against the Colonials.
Earlier this season, the Raiders fell to Robert Morris 53-74 at the Nutter Center. Lauren Scott paced the Raiders offensively Saturday afternoon, turning in a 15-point performance. Breezie Williams joined Scott in double figures, scoring 10 points of her own while also leading the Raiders with six assists and four steals. Grace Okih cleaned up the boards, hauling in six rebounds, followed by Ellie Magestro-Kennedy with five rebounds.
LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders came up short against Cleveland State Wednesday night, 55-81.
Claire Henson finished with a season-high 20 points to lead the Raiders on senior night. In her final game in the Nutter Center, the senior finished with a career-high 10 made field goals on 16 attempts. Henson also led the Raiders in rebounds (7), assists (3), steals (1), blocks (1), and minutes played (34). Ellie Magestro-Kennedy joined Henson in double digits, turning in 10 points of her own.
Cleveland State started the game out hot, scoring 20 points in the first 10 minutes to jump out to a 16-point lead after the first 10 minutes. The Raiders bounced back in the second quarter, shooting 69.2 percent from the floor and 67 percent from behind the arc to outscore the Vikings 22-19 in the second quarter. Wright State trailed by 13 points entering the locker room at halftime.
The Vikings kept their foot on the gas in the second half, outscoring the Raiders by three in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Raiders and end up with a 26-point road victory.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Cleveland State in rebounds (24-33), points in the paint (22-44), second chance points (6-8), and fast break points (2-8), while leading the Vikings in bench points (18-9).
HORIZON LEAGUE RANKS
The Raiders are sixth in the league with 1,981 points and sixth in points per game, and seventh in the league, averaging 66.0 points. The Raiders are getting it done from beyond the three-point line, shooting a league best 34.2% and knocking down 7.9 three-pointers per game.
BALL SECURITY IS JOB SECURITY
The Wright State offense has been taking care of the ball this season, averaging 14.0 turnovers per game, which is tied second in the Horizon League and tied for 65th nationally. The Raiders also boast a 1.57 turnover margin, which ranks fourth in the Horizon League.
BREEZIE LIKE A SUNDAY MORNING
Breezie Williams has been on fire in the month of February. The senior is averaging 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while shooting 55.0% from the floor and a stellar 60.7% from behind the three-point line. Williams kicked off the month by setting a new career-high after scoring 28 points against Purdue Fort Wayne on February 5. She was on fire, shooting 85% from the floor and a perfect 5-5 from behind the three-point line.
The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a then-career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks. She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action. Williams also finished one rebound and one steal short of a triple-double at Florida Atlantic, finishing with a career-high nine steals and nine rebounds. Williams has turned in a team-high six 20-point performances on the season, four of which have come in Horizon League play. Williams joined the 1,000 career-point club, scoring her 1,000th point on a layup with 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
ELLIE MAGIC
Wright State's Ellie Magestro-Kennedy has turned in eight double-digit scoring performances in Horizon League play. The redshirt sophomore has scored 10 or more points against Green Bay (10), IU Indy (13), Youngstown State (17), Northern Kentucky twice (10 and 13), Detroit Mercy (16), Milwaukee (10), and Cleveland State (18 (Career-high) and 10). To go along with the scoring, Magestro-Kennedy has seen her role increase, playing 20+ minutes in nine of her last 14 games.
The redshirt sophomore was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes five years ago. Daily, she is required to check blood glucose (sugar) levels, administer and adjust insulin dosages, and calculate meal carbohydrates (regular and pre- and post-workout/practice/games).
CLAIRE CRASHING THE BOARDS
Claire Henson has been active in the paint for the Raiders, snagging 178 rebounds so far this season. Henson is seventh in the Horizon League with 6.4 rebounds per game. The senior has turned in 14 performances of at least seven rebounds and 10 or more three times.
Henson also has a team high of three double-doubles. The senior has recorded double-doubles against Bellarmine (13 pts. and 12 reb.), Ohio (17 pts. and 15 reb. (career-high)), and Oakland (17 pts. and 10 reb.). Fellow senior Chloe Chard Peloquin recorded the only other double-double for the Raiders in the season opener against Butler (15 pts. and 11 rebs.).
RYLEE FROM RANGE
Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 39.0% from beyond the arc, which is a team best. Sagester's 55 three-pointers place her fifth in the Horizon League standings. Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in 20 of the Raiders' 29 games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine.
SIZING UP THE 2025-26 SQUAD
The Raiders return nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen).
The squad features four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. The roster also expands not only across the nation, with four different states represented (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin), but across the globe, with three international student-athletes (England, Nigeria, Sweden).
