Second half comeback, Imariagbe's double-double not enough Wednesday

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – A second half surge came up just short for the Wright State men's basketball team on Wednesday night, where the Raiders fell 72-66 to Robert Morris in Horizon League action.

Wright State (15-9, 10-3 Horizon), who remains in first place despite the Wednesday setback, returns home to the Nutter Center for a Saturday night 7 p.m. homecoming matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne. Fans can follow the all the action several ways – on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the television and radio feeds.

On Wednesday, Robert Morris (15-10, 7-7 Horizon) shot 53 percent in the first half on the way to a 40-27 lead at the break. The Raiders came out of the locker room fighting, tallying 14 of the first 19 second half points to pull within four at 45-41 with 15 minutes to play. The remainder of the second half went back-and-forth, with Wright State using a seven-point run to take its first lead since the opening minutes with 7:29 to play. A Dominic Pangonis dunk with just over three minutes to play put the Raiders in front by a basket again, but Robert Morris closed the night on an 11-3 run as the Raiders ended on a 1-of-5 shooting mark with a pair of turnovers down the stretch.

Michael Imariagbe scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season as he added three steals, a block and an assist. Solomon Callaghan did the bulk of his scoring early with 11 of his 14 points in the opening 20 minutes, while TJ Burch added 14 points of his own as the third Raider in double figures. Burch filled his stat line with five rebounds and four assists, while Callaghan pulled down four rebounds.

Kellen Pickett tied his career-best with 11 rebounds, his third game with double figure boards this season, as he chipped in six points.

Wright State finished the night shooting 35 percent (23-of-65), its lowest shooting mark of the season, while connecting on just five three-pointers (5-20, 25 percent). The Raiders got to the free throw line 22 times, going 68 percent at the stripe (15-of-22). Robert Morris shot 53 percent in the opening half before finishing the night at 48 percent overall (28-of-58) while the hosts hit nine three-pointers (9-20, 45 percent) and were 58 percent at the free throw line (7-of-12).

Ryan Prather led four Robert Morris players in double figures scoring with 17 points as DeSean Goode and Darius Livingston each finished with 16 points and Nikolaos Chitikoudis added 12 points in the win for the hosts.
