Current Raider Student-Athletes

"The Clock"

For NCAA Division I, a student-athlete must complete all seasons of competition within five calendar years of initial full-time enrollment. So, in a sense, the student-athlete has five years to complete four seasons of competition.

Financial Aid
Athletic Scholarships are awarded on a year-to-year basis. A college cannot award a four-year scholarship. A student-athletes scholarship may be renewed each year by the financial aid office. A scholarship may also be reduced or canceled after the one-year award period for any reason. Any reduction or cancelation of a scholarship may be appealed by the student-athlete.

Agents/Professional Athletics
If a student-athlete loses amateur status they become ineligible for NCAA intercollegiate participation. To maintain this status it is best to not have oral or written contracts or agreements with "anyone". No marketing of student-athletes based on athletic talent, do not compete on a professional team, and no gifts or benefits can be accepted by the student-athlete including their friends and family members. Prospects and NCAA student-athletes may enter the draft one time without losing eligibility only if they are not drafted or within 30 days of the draft it is declared in writing that they intend to return to college play.

Gambling
It is not permissible to participate in wagering on sports, this includes all levels through professional sports. No pools can be entered and not internet/bookie involvement. It is also not permissible to share information about your team, teammates, or yourself
