Abby Jump 2019

Abby Jump

Abby Jump returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach in the summer of 2018 and hasn't slowed down.

A Union, Ky., native, she helped guide the Raiders to the 2014 NCAA Tournament as a junior under head coach Mike Bradbury.  During her stint at WSU, the Raiders accumulated an 84-49 record.   As a junior and senior, she ranked first in the Horizon League in three-point percentage, shooting 46 percent from three-point and tied for 12th in the league in three-pointers made with 25 her senior year.

In the past two seasons, Abby has proven she is one of the best up and coming assistants in the country. Her scouting was pivotal as we have established ourselves at the top of the Horizon League. Her recruiting ability in evident as she is critical in signing high level talent. She is incredible with player development on and off the court. She primarily works with the wing players and every year there is a tremendous amount of improvement in their skills and productivity. Jump was instrumental in the development and mentoring of Symone Simmons as she earned Second Team honors.

"Bringing Abby back home was a no brainer," Merriweather said.  "She has done everything a young coach should that wants to get into the profession. She exhibits the qualities that are vital in a successful program. She has an exemplary work ethic and tremendous passion not only for basketball but for Wright State. She knows what it takes to win a Championship and she is determined to pass that knowledge to our kids."

In her two seasons at Morehead State, Jump helped guide the Eagles to a 42-21 record under head coach Greg Todd.  The Eagles reached the 20-win plateau for just the seventh and eighth time in school history, resulting in the program's first-ever appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament in 2017 and the first post-season appearance since 2010. She coached and mentored four Fist and Second Team All-Conference players as well as signed the highest nationally ranked class in school history.

"I would like to thank Coach Merriweather for providing me an opportunity to come back home and coach at Wright State," Jump said.  She had been such an influence in my coaching career and I look forward to continue to grow under her tutelage, This University, our Women's Basketball program, and the community mean so much to me ever since I was fortunate enough to don a WSU jersey. I am excited to share her vision and assist in continued success of this program!"

Jump came to Morehead State after spending 2015-16 as the director of women's basketball operations at Bucknell University, where she was responsible for creating weekly schedules, sending out recruiting mailers, arranging team travel, and coordinating the team's community service efforts. Her work assisted in the squad becoming the Patriot League Co-Regular Season Champions in 2015 and WNIT participants with a 25-8 record.

Jump graduated from Wright State with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership in 2014 and is currently enrolled in the Sports Management Master’s program. She played high school basketball at Ryle, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019. At the time of graduation, ranked fifth all-time in Kentucky with 81 three-pointers made.
