The Raiders got the offense started in the first inning as Jeremy Hamilton sent an offering from YSU starter Lucas Engel over the right field fence. It was the third home run of the season for Hamilton and gave WSU an early 1-0 lead.
Wright State capitalized on three errors and added a pair of unearned runs in the second inning. Casey McGrew reached singled to start the inning and Brian Shoup reached base after the first error of the inning, moving McGrew to second. After a sacrifice bunt, Aaron Fields chopped a ball up the middle that the YSU shortstop misplayed, allowing McGrew and Shoup to score.
