Baseball Drops 9-5 Decision to Cincinnati

Box Score

The Wright State baseball team dropped a midweek tilt to Cincinnati on Tuesday evening at Nischwitz Stadium, falling 9-5. The two teams entered the sixth inning tied at 5-5, but UC would score the next four runs unanswered to take the victory.

Cincinnati jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on WSU starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky. The sophomore would toss the next three innings scoreless to give WSU the opportunity to take the lead back.

Jeremy Hamilton, Casey McGrew and Gerald Ogrinc would all drive in RBI's in WSU's half of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead.

Bryce DeWeese would come on to throw the fifth inning on the mound for the Raiders, with UC tallying three runs to retake the lead at 5-3.

The Raiders would respond in their half of the fifth inning with two more runs to knot the game at 5-5. Hamilton and Parker would each drive in RBI's in the frame to draw even with the Bearcats.

UC would add three runs in the sixth off of two Raider pitchers to capture the lead at 8-5 and add the final run in the eighth to account for the remainder of the scoring.

DeWeese would be saddled with the loss, throwing one inning and allowing five runs on five hits. The sophomore walked one and struck out one to fall to 1-2 on the season.

Hamilton drove in a pair of RBI's to collect his fifth multi-RBI game of the season, while three Raiders collected multiple hits in the contest. Aaron Fields doubled and singles, scoring a pair of runs, while McGrew and Ogrinc each chipped in a pair of hits.

The Green and Gold fall to 12-15 overall on the season and will return to Horizon League play this weekend at Butler. The Raiders and Bulldogs will take to the diamond at Bulldog Park starting at 3:00 on Friday, April 11.
