Box Score Alex Kaminsky captured his fourth straight decision and Gerald Ogrinc drove in three RBI's to help WSU capture an 8-2 victory at Youngstown on Friday evening. The Green and Gold collected 13 hits, including six for extra bases, and seven of the nine batters collected hits.
WSU opened up the scoring in the second inning as Jeff Mercer two-bagger. Ogrinc then plated Mercer with a sacrifice to give WSU a 2-0 lead.
Parker collected an RBI in the third inning and after a two-hour rain delay, WSU Jeremy Hamilton plated the four run of the day for WSU.
With the lead at 4-0, Casey McGrew smacked his third home run of the season to lead off the seventh inning. Fields scored a run on an error and Ogrinc drove in a run with a single the Wright State lead was 7-0.
Kaminsky tossed six scoreless innings and fanned a season-high four batters to improve to 6-1 overall in 2008. It was the fourth straight start that Kaminsky collected a victory and he now leads the Horizon League in wins by a pitcher.
In the bottom of the seventh, freshman Michael Meintel came on to relieve Kaminsky and allowed a pair of runs, one earned.
Ogrinc drove in the Raiders final run in the ninth inning, scoring pinch runner Kory Twede from second, to account for the final margin of 8-2.
Meintel held YSU scoreless in the ninth to collect his fifth save of the season.
Fields, McGrew, Mercer and Parker all collected a pair of hits, while Ogrinc belted out three hits and had three RBI's in the contest.
The Green and Gold are now 23-17 overall and improve to 12-5 in Horizon League play. WSU will take on Youngstown State in a double-header starting at 1:00 on Saturday, May 3.
