Box Score Alex Kaminsky tossed seven innings and allowed two earned runs to help the Wright State baseball team into first place in the Horizon League with a 15-5 victory over Youngtown State on Friday evening at Nischwitz Stadium.
Youngstown State tallied the first three runs of the game against Kaminsky before the WSU offense would answer to take the lead in the bottom of the second.
The Raiders tallied four runs in the bottom of the second inning with Casey McGrew, Sam Mote and Gerald Ogrinc all collecting RBI's in the frame.
With the Lead at 4-3, Wright State would add a pair of runs in the third inning, one coming on a Jeff Mercer home run, and Jeremy Hamilton would drive in an RBI in the fourth to make it a 7-3 ballgame.
The Green and Gold would score two runs in the fifth and sixth innings, a single run in seventh and three more runs in the eighth to account for the 15 unanswered runs.
Kaminsky would toss seven innings and allow three runs - two earned - with four strikeouts. The sophomore improved his record to 7-1 overall and holds a 4.18 ERA in 51.2 innings of work this season.
Hamilton, McGrew, Mercer and Mote joined teammates Aaron Fields and Ross Vagedes with two hits apiece in the game. Ogrinc scored three runs and Mote drove in a season-high three RBI's in the contest.
Wright State had the second game of the twinbill canceled due to rain and wet field conditions at Nischwitz Stadium.
The Raiders are now 25-19 overall this season and are 14-6 in Horizon League play with the victory on Friday over YSU. The Green and Gold will now face off with Cleveland State in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 10 starting at Noon at The Nisch.
