The Wright State baseball team couldn't overcome a six-run first inning from host Milwaukee on Saturday at Henry Aaron Field, falling 8-5 to the host Panthers in game one. The Raiders scratched out five runs – four unearned – on nine hits in the game one loss.

UWM tallied six runs in the first inning off of Wright State starting pitcher Rylan Ostrosky, with all six runs coming with two outs in the frame. Three singles, two walks and a home run helped the Panthers out to an early 6-0 advantage.

Single runs in the fourth and fifth innings extended the Milwaukee lead to 8-0, before WSU would push their first runs of the game across in the seventh.

Ostrosky tossed 4.1 innings in the start, falling to 3-3 on the season, and allowed eight runs on eight hits with two strikeouts. Jordan Marker tossed the final 3.2 innings with two strikeouts and allowed only three hits.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Raiders tacked on some two-out runs of their own as Gerald Ogrinc and Jeff Mercer delivered a big two-out, two-run double down the left field line.

With the score at 8-3, the Green and Gold would add a pair of runs in the ninth inning as Ogrinc was hit by a pitch and Field singled to get the rally started. Ashe drove in an RBI with a ground out and Hibberd scored Fields from third with a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring for Wright State.

The loss gives WSU a 15-18 overall mark and a 4-4 ledger in the Horizon League heading into game two.
