Wright State trailed just 2-1 after two innings, but the Vanderbilt Commodores broke the game open with a 10-run third and went on to an 18-2 decision over the Raiders in baseball action Wednesday night at Hawkins Field.

WSU took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first as Tristan Moore doubled to right center and Jake Hibberd knocked him in with a single to center, only to see the Commodores answer with two in their half of the frame to go in front.

Vanderbilt then send 13 batters to the plate in scoring 10 runs in the third and added one more in the fifth, four in the seventh and one in the eighth.

The final run for the Raiders came in the eighth as Moore tripled and scored on a double play.

Moore and Hibberd paced the WSU offense with two hits each.

Wright State (6-10) opens Horizon League play this weekend with a three-game series against Valparaiso at Nischwitz Stadium. The Raiders and Crusaders will play a single game at 6:30 Friday night followed by a 1:00 doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
