Baseball Shutouts Le Moyne 7-0 for Seventh Straight Win

Wright State scored all of its runs in the first two innings and, behind the shutout efforts of four pitchers, made that stand up as the Raider baseball team completed a series sweep with a 7-0 win at Le Moyne Sunday afternoon.

Sam Picchiotti led off the game with an infield single, but was still at first two outs later until he stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. Tristan Moore plated Picchiotti with a hit to right center and Zach Tanner followed with a double to right center to drive in Moore and make it 2-0.

WSU then broke the game open an inning later with five more runs. Two errors helped set the stage for the first run and after Jake Hibberd doubled in two, a Moore sacrifice fly and a Tanner RBI single extended the margin to 7-0.

That's all the support that the Raider pitchers would need as after starter Max Friedman (3-1) threw five scoreless innings with six strikeouts, Lee Valencheck, Cody Kopilchack and Michael Schum completed the shutout, allowing just one hit in four innings with three strikeouts.

Picchiotti and Tanner each had two hits for WSU while Hibberd, Moore and Tanner all drove in two.

Wright State (19-9), who now has won seven straight, will compete at the Joe Nuxhall Invitational Tuesday and Wednesday at Marge Schott Stadium on the University of Cincinnati campus. The Raiders face Miami at 3:00 on Tuesday and will take on either Cincinnati or Xavier on Wednesday at a time to be determined by Tuesday's results.
