Baseball Wins in 10 Innings at Toledo

Box Score

Garrett Gray drove in the winning run in the 10th inning as the Wright State baseball team won 5-4 at Toledo Wednesday afternoon.

The Raiders took advantage of a pair of Rocket errors in jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the third.  With one out, Jake Hibberd and Corey Davis walked and Tristan Moore reached on an error to load the bases.  A balk resulted in the first run and an error off the bat of Ryan Ashe allowed Davis and Moore to score to make it 3-0.  The final run came in on a RBI single by Zach Tanner.

Toledo, though, scored twice in both the fourth and fifth innings to tie the score and the game headed to extra innings.

WSU regained the lead with a run in the 10th, a rally that started after the first two batters were retired.  After Ashe singled up the middle and moved up to second on a balk, Gray delivered the game-winning hit, a single to left center to plate Ashe.

The Rockets had the potential tying run at second in the bottom of the inning, but Michael Schum recorded his eighth save of the season on a fly out to end the game.

Jordan Marker (5-1), the reigning Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, picked up the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit while striking out two.

Moore, Ashe and Tanner each had two hits for the Raiders, with Ashe scoring twice.

Wright Stae (24-12) begins the second round of Horizon League play this weekend with a three-game series at UIC, starting with a 7:00 Eastern contest on Friday.
