
Eight Named to All-Horizon League Baseball Teams

Eight Wright State players were recognized as the baseball All-Horizon League teams were announced Tuesday afternoon.? Senior outfielder Tristan Moore was named as the Player of the Year while senior Michael Schum was selected as the Relief Pitcher of the Year.
Chosen First Team All-Horizon League were Moore, senior catcher Corey Davis, senior first baseman Jake Hibberd and senior outfielder Ryan Ashe while senior pitcher Jordan Marker and junior shortstop Justin Kopale received Second Team honors.? Freshman third baseman Michael Timm was named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Moore (New Albany, OH/New Albany) currently leads the league in runs scored with 53 and in runs batted in with 50.? He is also third with a .366 batting average, third in hits with 78 and tied for fourth in home runs with seven.? Moore leads the squad with a .549 slugging percentage and nine stolen bases and is tied for the team lead in on-base percentage at .434.
A First Team All-League honoree in 2011 as well as being a part of the All-Tournament Team, Moore hit .364 in league play this season with a team-best six home runs and 34 RBI.? He was named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Player of the Week on April 10 and was later selected as the MVP of the Joe Nuxhall Classic as the Raiders won that tournament for the first time ever.
Moore is the fifth Horizon League Player of the Year to come from Wright State in the last six years, joining Hibberd (2011), Jeff Mercer (2009), Jeremy Hamilton (2008) and Ross Oeder (2007).
Schum (Bright, IN/East Central) led the league with 12 saves as he set a school record with 36 for his career.? He was 3-2 overall with a 3.19 earned run average and 39 strikeouts in 42.1 innings.
The Horizon League Relief Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and 2011 along with this season, Schum was selected First Team All-League in 2011 and to the Second Team in 2009.
Davis (Happy Valley, OR/Clackamas) hit .2999 with three home runs and 31 RBI and scored 37 runs as he led the team with 16 sacrifice bunts.? The 2011 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, Davis was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week on April 2 and as the College Sports Madness Horizon League Player of the Week on May 14.
Hibberd (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) is tied for the league lead in hits with 79 and is tied for second in home runs with eight.? He also ranks fourth in runs scored with 47, sixth in RBI with 44 and seventh in batting average at .335.? In league play, Hibberd hit .346 with five home runs and 31 RBI.
A three-time First Team All-Horizon League honoree, Hibberd was chosen to the All-Newcomer Team in 2009.
Ashe (Huber Heights, OH/Wayne) tied with Hibberd for the league lead in hits with 79, is second with a .373 batting average and 50 runs scored and is tied for third with 45 RBI.? He leads the squad with six triples and tied for the lead with a .434 on-base percentage.? In league play, Ashe hit .413 with 32 RBI and 30 runs scored.
Marker (Greenville, OH/Greenville) had an impressive season out of the Raider bullpen as he posted a 9-2 record with two saves and a 2.45 ERA in 27 appearances.? In 55 innings, Marker struck out 45 while walking just 14 and holding the opposition to a .194 batting average.
Among Marker's wins this season were decisions over North Carolina State, Virginia, Miami (OH), Toledo and Valparaiso with his saves coming against Milwaukee and Youngstown State.
Kopale (Oak Forest, IL/St. Rita) hit .293 for the season with four home runs and 45 RBI.? A First Team All-League selection in 2011, Kopale hit .316 in league play in 2012 with 29 RBI.
Timm (Twinsburg, OH/Twinsburg) came on strong in the second half of the season to finish at .315 overall with 24 RBI and 24 runs scored.? In league play, he hit .308 with 19 RBI and 17 runs scored.
Wright State (36-19, 20-10 Horizon) is the #2 seed for this week's Horizon League Tournament, which begins Wednesday at Les Miller Field on the UIC campus.? The Raiders open tournament play on Thursday at 4:00 Eastern against the higher seed of Wednesday's two winners, which will either be Milwaukee, UIC or Butler.
