Â
Wright State (22-22, 15-3 HL) will return home to Nischwitz Stadium to take on crosstown rival Dayton on May 5. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m., and the first fans through the gate will receive a Raidergang t-shirt.
Â
The Wright State offense scored 16 runs Sunday afternoon on 16 hits, with seven different Raiders recording hits and five multi-hit performances. Turner led the way for the Raiders with four extra-base hits on the afternoon, highlighted by a pair of home runs. Turner was also a run-producing machine, driving in seven runs and scoring four himself. Â Hunter Warren, Andrew Duncan, Braylen Blomquist, and Patrick Fultz would all join Turner with multi-hit days of their own.
Â
Chet Lax got the start on the mound for the Raiders and picked up his Horizon League-leading eighth win on the season. The left-hander delivered yet another quality start for the Raiders in Rochester, pitching six innings, allowing just two runs while picking up five strikeouts.
Â
Wright State would open the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first off the bat of Peltier. Oakland would respond right away in the bottom half of the frame with a Ben Clark leadoff homer.
Â
The Raiders would regain the lead with three runs in the top of the second and never look back. Blomquist would bring home Turner with an RBI groundout before Fultz sent a two-run opposite-field shot over the wall in left.
Â
After a pair of scoreless frames put up by the Raiders and Golden Grizzlies, Turner would break the game wide open with his first homer of the day in the fifth inning. The senior sent a three-run shot over the wall in centerfield to give Wright State a 7-1 lead.
Â
The Raiders would strike for four more runs in the top of the sixth thanks to back-to-back two-run doubles off the bats of Turner and Blomquist.
Â
Warren would give the Raiders some insurance in the top of the seventh with an RBI single. Duncan would follow Warren with a two-run triple into the gap in left-center. Turner would step up in the seventh just a single short of the cycle, but instead the right fielder would park his second homer of the day over the wall in right.
Â
Oakland would get one more run in the bottom of the seventh, Michael Zielinski would come out of the bullpen to shut down the Golden Grizzlies, as the Raiders enact the 10-run rule and complete the series sweep of Oakland.
