The Wright State men's basketball team led by four with 5:20 to play, but could not hold on as Findlay closed the game with a 20-12 run to pull out an 80-76 exhibition win Friday night at WSU's Nutter Center.
A JT Yoho tip-in gave WSU an early 13-10 lead, only to see the Oilers regain the advantage as Alphonso Baity scored eight straight points. Findlay led the rest of the way and was up 36-28 at the break thanks to hitting 14 of 25 shots, including five of 11 from three-point range.
The Raiders took their first lead of the second half at 56-55 as Mark Howell connected on back-to-back threes, the second at the 8:44 mark and the margin grew to 64-60 on a Yoho fast-break layup with 5:20 remaining.
Findlay, however, went up for good with a 13-0 run, seven of those coming from Greg Kahlig, and held on for the win despite Wright State closing to within three at 79-76 on two Steven Davis foul shots in the final seconds.
The Oilers shot 56 percent for the contest overall, including seven of 15 three-pointers, and made 23 of 35 at the foul line compared to 37 percent shooting for the Raiders, who were 17 of 22 at the stripe.
Yoho paced WSU with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while AJ Pacher had 16 points while Howell had 13 off the bench. Reggie Arceneaux had nine points and Matt Vest chipped in eight points and five assists.
Kahlig and Baity each had 20 to lead Findlay while Jake Heagen had 17 and Dylan Kaufman 11.
Wright State opens the regular season on Sunday, November 10, as the Raiders host Mount St. Joseph at 5:00.
