Box Score The Wright State baseball team had a 1-0 lead over #18 Ole Miss in the fourth, only to see the Rebels score two or more runs in four of the final five innings for a 10-3 decision in the opener of a three-game weekend series Friday in Oxford, Mississippi.
WSU opened the scoring with a run in the third. Gabe Snyder led off with a double down the right field line and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Jason DeFevers. Mark Fowler then plated Snyder with a ground out.
It stayed that way until Ole Miss scored twice on just one hit in the bottom of the fourth. The Rebels added four more in the fifth, two in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
The Raiders rounded out their scoring with two in the eighth. Singles by Andrew McCafferty and Sean Murphy put runners on the corners and, following a wild pitch, both scored on a Matt Morrow hit up the middle.
McCafferty and Murphy each had two hits for WSU.
Wright State (3-1) and Ole Miss (3-1) are scheduled to continue the series Saturday with a single game at 2:30 Eastern.
