Box Score 2 The Wright State baseball team swept a doubleheader over Oakland in the Horizon League opener for both teams Saturday at Nischwitz Stadium, taking the opener 6-1 and the nightcap 6-2.
The Golden Grizzlies took the early lead in game one with a run in the fourth before the Raiders answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Ryan Fucci doubled to left and scored one out later as Michael Timm dropped a single into right center.
WSU then went in front to stay with five runs in the fifth. After Matt Morrow was hit by a pitch, Jason DeFevers walked and Brad Macciocchi reached on an error to load the bases, a Mark Fowler hit broke the tie and Mitch Roman drove in two runs with a single up the middle. Sean Murphy then plated the final two runs with a double down the left field line.

In the second game, Oakland again scored first with a run in the first, only to see Wright State answer quickly with three in the bottom of the frame. Timm delivered a two-out RBI single to keep the rally going and Gabe Snyder followed with a two-run double to right center.
The Golden Grizzlies made it 3-2 with a run in the fifth, but the Raiders again had a quick response, this time with two runs in the bottom of the inning as Roman had a RBI single and Murphy drove him in with a ground out.
DeFevers knocked in the final run of the game in the eighth as his hit to left plated Snyder, who walked, stole second and went to third on an error.
Trevor Swaney (1-2) struck out five in seven innings for the win while E.J. Trapino and Andrew Elliott each threw a scoreless frame. Offensively, Roman, Fucci and Snyder each had two hits.
