Box Score For the second time this week, the Wright State baseball team picked up a walk-off win at Nischwitz Stadium as a ground-rule double by Matt Morrow lifted the Raiders to a 3-2 decision over Milwaukee Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Fucci's sixth home run of the season, a solo shot to left to lead off the second inning, gave WSU an early 1-0 lead, only to see the Panthers tie it with a run in the fifth and go up 2-1 with another run in the seventh.
Wright State, though, answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the seventh. Andrew McCafferty led off with a hit to left center and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Gabe Snyder then singled up the middle to plate McCafferty.
That set the stage for the bottom of the ninth and again McCafferty started the rally with a hit up the middle. Snyder lined out to second, but McCafferty was able to move up to second as the throw in an attempt to double him off of first was wild.
Pinch-hitter Matt Morrow then delivered the game-winner as his drive to center bounced near the fence and over for a ground-rule double to knock in McCafferty.
It was the second walk-off win of the week for the Raiders as they defeated Northern Kentucky 4-3 Wednesday on a McCafferty sacrifice fly in the ninth. The victory was also the third straight one-run decision for WSU as along with the NKU win, Wright State defeated Milwaukee in the first game of the series on Friday 1-0.
Andrew Elliott (2-2) picked up the win as he retired the two batters he faced to close out the top of the ninth. Offensively, McCafferty finished with three hits while Mark Fowler had two.
Wright State (14-6, 5-0 Horizon) goes for the sweep against Milwaukee (10-6, 2-3 Horizon) in the series finale Sunday at noon.
