Box Score For the second straight day and third time this week, the Wright State baseball team won in walk-off fashion Sunday afternoon as Matt Morrow's two-run double in the 13th lifted the Raiders to a 6-5 win over Milwaukee at Nischwitz Stadium.
Sam Koenig had a solo home run to right in the first to give the Panthers a quick 1-0 lead, only to see WSU answer in the second as Ryan Fucci led off with a double down the left field line and Andrew McCafferty followed with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to right.
Wright State extended the lead to 4-1 in the third as Sean Murphy had a sacrifice fly to plate the first run while the second run scored on an error.
Milwaukee began its comeback with a run in the fifth and a run in the seventh, but the Raiders looked to be in position for the win as Andrew Elliott retired the first two batters in the ninth.
An error, though, kept the game alive and Ryan McShane delivered a RBI double to the gap in left to tie the game at 4-4.
WSU had a chance to win it in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and one out, but a strikeout and fly ball ended the threat. Milwaukee also had a threat in the 10th, but stranded a pair of runners.
In the top 13th, an error and a sacrifice put a runner at third for the Panthers, who then took the lead at 5-4 on a Tell Taylor triple. UWM then tried to squeeze in a second run, but Murphy picked up the ball in front of the plate and went back to tag the runner trying to come in from third.
In the bottom of the inning, Fucci and McCafferty walked and, one out later, Derreck Garcia also walked to load the bases. That brought Morrow to the plate and after hitting a double to center to drive in the game-winner on Saturday, he delivered again with another double, this time to left, to knock Fucci and McCafferty with the winning runs.
Jack Van Horn (2-1) was the winning pitcher after pitching two scoreless innings in relief. Offensively, Mitch Roman paced the Raider attack with four hits while Mark Fowler had two hits.
Wright State (15-6, 6-0 Horizon), which completed a perfect 9-0 homestand with the win, travels to Highland Heights, Kentucky, on Wednesday, March 25, for a 3:00 contest at Northern Kentucky.
