Box Score The Wright State baseball team stretched its winning streak to 10 Tuesday afternoon with a 7-3 decision over the Miami RedHawks at Nischwitz Stadium.
The Raider offense came out strong, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Mitch Roman led off with a walk and after Michael Timm was hit by a pitch, Sean Murphy singled to right to drive in Roman and advance Timm to third. One out later, Murphy stole second and Timm scored on the play as the throw went into center field. Gabe Snyder then doubled to the fence in right to knock in Murphy with the third run.
Miami answered with a pair of runs in the third, only to see WSU extend the lead back out to 4-2 with a run in the fourth. Jason DeFevers was hit by a pitch with one out and after going to second on a Brad Macciocchi hit, scored as Roman reached on an infield single up the middle.
Wright State then broke the game open with three runs in the sixth. Snyder's second double of the game and a Macciocchi single produced the first run and a two-run double off the bat of Andrew McCafferty made it 7-2.
The RedHawks scored an unearned run in the eighth, but would get no closer.
Starter Jeremy Randolph (3-0) picked up the win while E.J. Trapino and Logan Blair combined for five innings, allowing just one unearned run, four hits and a walk while striking out four.
Offensively, Snyder and Macciocchi each had two hits.
Wright State (16-6) travels to Northern Kentucky Wednesday for a 3:00 contest.
