Box Score 2 The Wright State baseball team split a doubleheader with Missouri State Friday at PerfectGame Park South in Emerson, Georgia, rallying for a 3-2 win in 10 innings in the opener before falling in the nightcap 14-4.
WSU opening the scoring in the first game with a run in the second. Sean Murphy singled up the middle with one out, went to second on a Matt Morrow ground out and scored as Michael Timm had a hit through the right side of the infield.
Missouri State, though, tied it with a run in the third and gained the lead with another run in the sixth.
The Raiders tied it in the seventh as Morrow doubled down the right field line and later scored on a wild pitch and won it in the 10th as after hits by Brad Macciocchi and Mitch Roman, Macciocchi scored as Andrew McCafferty reached on a fielder's choice that resulted in an error.
E.J. Trapino (2-0) picked up the win by pitching a scoreless 10th with a strikeout while Logan Blair threw two scoreless frames in relief of starter Jesse Scholtens, who struck out four in seven innings of work.
Murphy and Morrow each had two hits to pace the WSU offense.
In the second game, Wright State had the early advantage after scoring a run in the first on a bases-loaded walk by Gabe Snyder and adding two more in the third on a two-run home run to right off the bat of Ryan Fucci, his fourth of the season.
The Bears, however, scored twice in the fifth and went in front for good with five in the sixth before adding one in the seventh and six in the eighth.
The final run for the Raiders came in the eighth as Jason DeFevers, who had two hits in the contest, doubled in Snyder.
Wright State (6-5) and Missouri State (7-4) close out the series with a single game Saturday starting at 9 am.
