Box Score The Wright State baseball team bounced back from a one-run loss to Youngstown State Friday with a 13-1 decision over the Penguins at Nischwitz Stadium Saturday afternoon.
YSU opened the scoring with an unearned run in the first, but that turned out to be the only run for the Penguins the entire day as the Raiders took the lead for good with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
A Sean Murphy double drove in the first run and two more scored on the play on a throwing error. Andrew McCafferty made it 4-1 with a RBI single and Gabe Snyder plated the final run with a sacrifice fly.
Doubles by Mark Fowler and Michael Timm produced a run in the second and John Brodner squeezed in a run in the fifth. A single by Mitch Roman along with a Fowler double extended the margin to 9-1 in the sixth and the Raiders capped off the scoring with four in the eighth.
Luke Mamer (2-1) pitched seven innings for the win, giving up just five hits and a walk while striking out five. Jacob Burk, in his first appearance of the season, threw a scoreless eighth while Jason Foster did the same in the ninth.
Offensively, Fowler had three hits and two RBI along with three runs scored while Timm had three hits and two runs scored, Roman two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, Murphy two hits and Brodner two RBI.
Wright State (21-10, 9-4 Horizon) and Youngstown State (9-19, 4-10 Horizon) close out the series with a single game Sunday at 1:00.
