Box Score The Wright State baseball team scored two or more runs in six different innings Friday night in rolling to a 19-2 win over Youngstown State at Eastwood Field.
WSU opened the scoring with two runs in the first and then broke the game open with five more in the second, the big blow being a three-run triple off the bat of Matt Morrow. The Raiders picked up four runs in the fourth, including an Andrew McCafferty two-run triple and added two in the sixth on Gabe Snyder's two-run double.
Morrow hit a two-run home run as part of a three-run seventh, the first home run of his collegiate career, and Wright State rounded out its scoring with a run in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Jesse Scholtens (6-3) pitched seven innings for the win, allowing five hits and no walks while striking out four. Jacob Burk and Cody Simon each threw a scoreless inning in relief, with Simon fanning two.
Morrow finished with three hits, six RBI and two runs scored to pace the WSU offense while Snyder had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Mitch Roman, Mark Fowler and Michael Timm each had two hits, with Fowler scoring three times and Roman and Timm twice.
Wright State (30-10, 14-4 Horizon) looks to tie its longest winning streak of the season with the second game of the series Saturday at 2:00. The Raiders won 11 straight during mid-March.
