Box Score The Wright State baseball team scored five runs in the third and fourth innings and rolled to a 7-1 victory over Toledo Tuesday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
After two scoreless innings, WSU took the lead for good with three runs in the third. Brad Macchiocchi started the frame with a walk and scored after back-to-back hits from Matt Morrow and Michael Timm. Following a Mitch Roman bunt single to load the bases, both Timm and Morrow scored on Gabe Snyder's single to center.
The Raiders extended the margin to 5-0 with two more runs in the fourth. Macciocchi again started the rally with a two-out walk and a Derreck Garica bunt hit along with an error put runners on second and third. Macciocchi later scored on a passed ball while Garcia came in on a Morrow single to center.
Wright State tacked on single runs in the fifth and seventh on sacrifice flies by Andrew McCafferty and Jason DeFevers.
Six Raider pitchers combined to limit the Rockets to a run on six hits while striking out seven.
Offensively, Snyder had two hits and two RBI while Morrow had two hits and Macciocchi two runs scored.
Wright State (35-14) closes out the regular season this weekend with a three-game Horizon League series against Valparaiso at Nischwitz Stadium, starting with a single game Thursday at noon.
