The Wright State men's basketball team shot just 32 percent for the game, 27 percent in the second half, in dropping a 64-59 Horizon League decision at UIC Thursday night.

Neither team had more than a three-point lead and there were six ties in the first half until WSU went up 28-23 at the 4:39 mark followng a three and dunk by Mark Alstork

After the two teams exchanged baskets, UIC regained the advantage at 31-30 with six straight Dikembe Dixson points and the freshman forward gave the Flames a 33-31 halftime lead with a jumper in the final minute of the period.

UIC shot 48 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and was two for five from behind the arc while the Raiders shot 38 percent overall and were four of 11 from three-point range.

A Michael Karena layup and another Alstork three put Wright State back in front 36-33 to start the second half, only to see the Flames to go in front to stay with a 10-0 run, capped off by a Dixson three.

UIC extended the margin to 52-43 with 10:40 to play on a Tai Odiase jumper before WSU rallied to within one twice, the second being 59-58 on a Karena dunk with 1:51 left.

The Raiders, though, managed just one more point the rest of the way as the Flames hit five of six foul shots down the stretch.

UIC hit nine of 18 field goal attempts in the second half to finish at 49 percent overall while Wright State connected on just nine of 34 attempts to end up at 32 percent for the game. 

Alstork led the way for the Raiders with 15 points while Karena had 11 along with JT Yoho.

Dixson paced UIC (4-19, 2-10 Horizon) with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds while Odiase added 18 points.

Wright State (15-11, 9-4 Horizon) travels to league leader Valparaiso for a 8:00 Eastern matchup Saturday night.
