Baseball Drops Series Finale at #8 NC State

The Wright State baseball team dropped an 8-4 decision to #8 NC State in the series finale at Doak Field Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders scored a run in the first as after JD Orr, Sean Murphy and Mitch Roman singled to load the bases, Orr came in on a double play. The Wolfpack, though, tied the game with a run of their own in the bottom of the first and went in front with four runs in the third.
WSU cut the deficit to 4-2 with a run in the fifth as Murphy led off with a home run to left, his fourth of the season, only to see NC State answer with two in the bottom of the frame and another in the eighth.
The final two runs for Wright State came in the eighth as John Brodner walked and, one out later, Peyton Burdick homered to center, his first collegiate round tripper.
Murphy and Burdick each finished with three hits while Orr had two.
Wright State (5-2) travels to High Point for a rare two-game midweek series on Tuesday, March 1, and Wednesday, March 2, with both games starting at 4:00.
