The Wright State baseball team rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to take a one-run lead in the eighth, only to see High Point answer with two in the bottom of the inning for a 5-4 decision Tuesday afternoon at Williard Stadium.

The Panthers scored three two-out runs in the third before the Raiders started their comeback with a run in the fourth. With two out, Mitch Roman reached on an infield single, stole second and scored as Ryan Fucci had a hit to right.

WSU then tied it with two runs in the seventh. Gabe Snyder drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a passed ball one out later. A Peyton Burdick hit put runners on the scorers and both scored as pinch-hitter Daniel Arthur delivered a double to left center.

Wright State took its first lead of the day at 4-3 with a run in the eighth. Jason DeFevers reached on an error and after Roman singled, Snyder was intentionally walked with two out to load the bases. John Brodner then drew a full-count walk to force in DeFevers.

High Point, though, again scored with two outs, this time in the eighth with two runs to go in front for good. The Raiders threatened in the ninth as Adrian Marquez and JD Orr walked, but a pop up and ground out ended the game.

Wright State (5-3) and High Point (4-3) wrap up the two-game series Wednesday at 4:00.
