Box Score The Wright State baseball team scored the final six runs of the game to defeat Toledo 8-1 Friday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
WSU used back-to-back doubles in scoring twice in the first. Sean Murphy walked with one out and scored as Ryan Fucci doubled down the left field line. Daniel Arthur followed with a double of his own to left to plate Fucci.
The Rockets answered with a run of their own in the second, only to see the Raiders extend the lead to 4-1 with two more in their half of the frame on RBI singles by Murphy and Mitch Roman.
Back-to-back doubles from Matt Morrow and John Brodner made it 5-1 in the fifth and Wright State rounded out the scoring with three in the eighth.
Starter Jesse Scholtens (5-1) went seven innings, scattering seven hits and two walks while striking out four. Logan Blair pitched the final two innings, fanning one.
Morrow had two hits and two runs scored to pace the Raider offense while Murphy also had two hits.
Wright State (23-10) and Toledo (7-26-1) continue the weekend series with a 2:00 game Saturday at Nischwitz Stadium.
