Box Score The Wright State baseball team could not overcome Toledo scoring in five of the final six innings as the Rockets defeated the Raiders 9-3 Saturday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.
Scoreless through three innings, Toledo opened the scoring with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth. WSU cut the deficit to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the fifth on a double off the bat of John Brodner.
The Rockets, however, added a run in the sixth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth. Wright State picked up a run in the seventh on a RBI grounder by JD Orr and another in the eight on a Brad Macciocchi double, but could get no closer.
Wright State (23-11) and Toledo (8-26-1) wrap up the three-game series with a game Sunday at 2:00 at Scott Park in Toledo.
