Baseball Falls in Series Finale to Oakland

A three-run home run by Mike Brosseau in the eighth accounted for all the scoring as Oakland won the baseball series finale 3-0 Saturday morning at Nischwitz Stadium. The game took just one hour, 56 minutes to complete.
Through seven innings, it was a scoreless pitcher's duel between Raider starter Caleb Sampen and Golden Grizzly starter Tyler Palm. Sampen allowed just four hits and a walk during that stretch while Palm gave up only two hits and a walk.
Sampen then retired the first two batters in the eighth before Ryan Fitzgerald started the Oakland rally with a single through the left side of the infield. After Zach Sterry was hit by a pitch, Brosseau connected on a 0-1 pitch for a three-run homer to right, his ninth of the season.
Palm hit a batter in the ninth, but retired the other six batters he faced to complete the shutout.
Wright State (30-13, 14-4 Horizon) hosts Valparaiso in a doubleheader on Friday, May 6, starting at 1:00.
