The Wright State baseball team broke a 2-2 tie with five runs over a three-inning span and went on to a 7-5 decision at Cincinnati Tuesday night.

Ryan Fucci's sixth home run of the season gave the Raiders a quick 1-0 lead in the first before the Bearcats tied it with a run in the second. WSU regained the advantage with a run in the fourth on a double play, only to see UC again tie it with a run in its half of the inning.

A John Brodner ground out plated Daniel Arthur with the go-ahead run for Wright State in the sixth and the Raiders added two more in the seventh on a two-run, two-out single by Peyton Burdick.

Cincinnati picked up a run in the bottom of the seventh, but WSU stretched the lead to 7-3 in the eighth on a Zach Weatherford sacrifice fly and a Mitch Roman RBI single.

The Bearcats answered with two in the bottom of the eighth, but Jack Van Horn pitched a scoreless ninth for his sixth save of the year.

Trevor Swaney (4-1) went the first five innings for the win, scattering four hits while striking out one and walking none. Offensively, Roman and Burdick each had two hits.

Wright State (19-9) is scheduled to play a three-game Horizon League series in Milwaukee this weekend, but that may be affected by the forecast of cold weather. Check with wsuraiders.com for further updates.
