The Wright State baseball team closed out the regular season on a high note Saturday, connecting for three home runs, including a pair of three-run blasts by Ryan Fucci, in defeating UIC 12-5 at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

Fucci struck with the first of his two home runs to help WSU build a 4-0 lead in the first. With one out, Mitch Roman doubled to right, Peyton Burdick was hit by a pitch and Fucci followed with a three-run homer to right. The Raiders then used walks to Sean Murphy and Gabe Snyder along with an error to produce the final run.

UIC cut the deficit in half with two runs in the second and it stayed that way until Wright State sent 11 batters to the plate in scoring five runs in the fourth. A Roman RBI single resulted in the first run and after Burdick doubled in two, Murphy hit a two-run home run to left, his sixth, to make it 9-2.

Fucci connected on his second three-run homer of the game to extend the Raider lead to 12-2 with two outs in the seventh following walks to Roman and Burdick. It was the 11th round-tripper of the season for the senior outfielder and his fifth in 13 games so far in May.

Trevor Swaney (9-1) struck out four in six innings to pick up the win while, offensively, Roman finished with three hits and three runs scored, Fucci six RBI, Burdick two hits, three runs scored and two RBI, Murphy two hits, two RBI and two runs scored and Snyder two hits.

Wright State (41-15, 23-6 Horizon) will be the #1 seed and host of the upcoming Horizon League Tournament, which begins on Wednesday with two games. The Raiders will face the lower seeded winner of Wednesday's games, which will be either #4 seed UIC, #5 seed Oakland or #6 seed Northern Kentucky, Thursday morning at 11:00.
