Women's Basketball Opens at UNOH

The Wright State women's basketball team will open the 2017-18 season Friday night at Northwestern Ohio in Lima. Game time is 6 pm eastern.
Wright State
Coming off a 25-9 record last season, the Raiders return the bulk of the scoring and rebounding, including preseason Horizon League Player of the Year Chelsea Welch and preseason second team player Lexi Smith. WSU advanced to the second round of the WNIT in March and were picked to finish second in the conference this year. Also back will be Mackenzie Taylor, Emily Vogelpohl and Symone Simmons.Â
Wright State defeated Indianapolis in the lone exhibition game 92-44. Taylor had 18 points as four others broke double digits and Simmons grabbed 12 boards.
UNOH
The Racers are 2-2 on the young season with wins at Wilberforce and Cincinnati Christian. Kierra Billingsly leads the team at 16.0 points per game while Emily Patton averages 15.5 points and 6.3 rebounds. UNOH's rebounding leader has been Latoya Cuthrell at 8.5 per game. The Racers are currently shooting 39% from the field and 27% from three but are outrebounding their opponents by more than five boards a game.

This is the first meeting between the two schools.
