Raiders Hold Off Grizzlies

WSU defeats Oakland 80-75

The Wright State women's basketball team was up by as much as 22 points but fended off an Oakland attack as the Raiders won 80-75 over the Grizzlies Saturday night at the WSU Nutter Center.

Senior Chelsea Welch took control to post a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds along with five assists and two steals while fellow senior Lexi Smith added her own double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.  Junior Mackenzie Taylor pitched in 20 points as Emily Vogelpohl grabbed her 1,000th career point as she finished with nine points.

The Raiders are now 18-8, 9-5 while Oakland drops to 11-13, 4-9.

  • Welch had 10 points to pace the Raiders to a 37-25 lead after the first 20 minutes.
