
Baseball Plays five in Texas

The Wright State baseball team, on the heels of taking two of three games at #20 Louisiana, will play five games in Texas this week. The Raiders will play a pair of game at Sam Houston State Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 pm each day before a three-game series at UT-Arlington starting Friday at 7:30 pm. WSU will play at UTA Saturday at 3 pm and Sunday at 2 pm.
Last Sunday, Peyton Burdick led the way offensively with three hits, including a homerun, two RBI and two runs scored. Seth Gray also picked up three hits with an RBI as Gabe Snyder with a run and Alex Alders each had two hits. JD Orr added a hit and a run. Caleb Sampen picked up the win.
Synder (Millersburg, OH/West Holmes), a senior first baseman, was named the Horizon League Hitter of the Week as he batted .417 in three games at #20 Louisiana Lafayette over the weekend. The Raiders won two in the three-game series. In his 12 at bats, he had five hits, four runs, two doubles, a triple and three RBI, a walk and a strikeout. Snyder is hitting .347 on the young season.
Sam Houston, which received votes in the NCBWA poll, has won five straight games and has a 5-1 overall record with a pair of wins over Kent State and three over Cincinnati last week. The Bearkats have pushed an average of 6.5 runs per game across the plate while the pitching staff has been as advertised with a 2.83 ERA while holding its opponents to just a .249 average.
The first game will be shown on ESPN3.
UTA is currently 3-2 as they host TCU Wednesday before the Raiders come to town. The Mavericks took two games from Stephen F. Austin at home Sunday and Monday after rain canceled games over the weekend. Video will be available for all three games through their website.
The Raiders return home for an informal tournament with Dayton next weekend.
